Dr. Stelios Georgiades elected as a Member of the Royal Society of Canada’s College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists

On September 4, 2025, The Royal Society of Canada released the names of the 2025 incoming class of the College of the Royal Society of Canada. MacART Co-Director and Founder Dr. Stelios Georgiades will be inducted as a Member of this College!

The College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists is Canada’s first national system of multidisciplinary recognition for the emerging generation of Canadian intellectual leadership. It celebrates Canadians and Permanent Residents who have demonstrated a high level of achievement at a mid-career stage toward addressing major emerging challenges.

Dr. Stelios Georgiades, also the Director of McMaster University’s Offord Centre for Child Studies and the Inaugural Chair in Autism and Neurodevelopment at McMaster Children’s Hospital, will be inducted as a Member due to his global leadership in autism research. He demonstrates excellence in bringing a multigenerational capacity to address major challenges within the autism field, and for his excellence in seizing new opportunities in this field. Notably, his leadership in large-scale longitudinal cohort studies are advancing the understanding of autism and its outcomes and are driving the implementation of personalized approaches to autism services and supports.

Dr. Georgiades will be formally inducted along with the rest of the Class of 2025 Fellows and College Members into the Royal Society of Canada at its annual Celebration of Excellence and Engagement in Montreal in November 2025.
