Bio

Dr. Peter Szatmari is a clinician-scientist and an international autism expert. He has made significant contributions to the field in many areas including diagnosis, measurement, and longitudinal development – all of which led to significant changes in our understanding of autism as well as the classification of autism in both the DSM-IV and DSM-5. He was a co-leader of the Autism Genome Project and led the national Pathways in ASD study. He was the founding Director of the Canadian Autism Intervention Research Network, a patient-oriented research network in early supports/care in autism.

  • Looking at the impact of a diagnosis of autism on health using data from the Canadian Health Survey of Children and Youth. Although the Pathways study has finished collecting data, Dr. Szatmari and his colleagues are still writing up the data.
