Dr. Kerry Boyd is a child & adolescent psychiatrist who has over 25 years of experience working with teams serving people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) in the Hamilton-Niagara Region. She is an associate clinical professor with the Dept. of Psychiatry & Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University. She is committed to improving care through education and advocacy.

  • Dr. Boyd’s research activities have been focused on developmental disabilities and autism healthcare experience, education, and program evaluation.

  • As an AMS Phoenix Project Fellow, Dr. Boyd rallied a network of partners to develop the Curriculum of Caring for People with Developmental Disabilities to create web-based resources found at CommunicateCARE.machealth.ca.
  • Dr Boyd has been a clinical expert consultant to the Developmental Disabilities Primary Care Program (DDPCP) at Surrey Place. The DDPCP produced clinical guidelines and practice tools to improve health and health care access for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (many of whom are Autistic). The working groups developed a suite of clinical practice tools for physicians supporting patients with IDD in mental distress or behavioral crisis. There are also tools to ‘Communicate CARE’ and to help guide transition to adult services.
