Dr. Ellen Badone is involved in research dealing with the lived experience of autism. As a medical anthropologist, she uses ethnographic methods and interviews to investigate how Autistic individuals and their families understand and interpret their situations.

Dr. Badone is not currently working on autism-related projects, but one of her Anthropology PhD students, Stephanie Studer, is writing her dissertation on “The Lived Experiences of Caregivers for Autistic Individuals.” Stephanie will present a poster on this research at the INSAR 2026 Annual Meeting in Prague.
